Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider Quadcopter with Camera Review

During my research I came across the Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider and would like to share my discoveries with you.

With so many different drones currently on the market I understand it may be a little challenge to find the best quadcopter or drone for yourself when starting out.. So looking for a good quality drone doing some research is the first step at hand.

So what is the Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider all about?

The Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider is an ultra light, ultra-compact drone weighing only 55 grams providing great stability and speed for users of all skill levels.

The Parrot Mini Quadcopter drone is powered by a lithium polymer battery and is able to take great aerial shots with its vertical mini camera.

You can maneuver the drone through your tablet or smartphone as it works through Bluetooth smart technology via the FreeFlight3 app. This quadcopter drone is a great and fun toy for both beginners and experienced hobbyists alike.

Features and Benefits

The benefits of the Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider quad really stand out from the crowd. Just take a look:

The Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider Quadcopter with its Camera features attachable and removable wheels that makes it possible to drive this drone up your walls as well as ride across your ceilings. Making it both it fun and safe for indoor use!

The Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider comes fitted with a propeller circuit breaker for protection in the event of a crash. Furthermore there is a built in accelerometer and gyroscope which measure and analyse the drone’s every move.

The drone is powered by a lithium polymer battery providing up to 8 minutes of flight time at full charge.  Like with most low priced quadcopters like this, charging time may be a little high, and with it’s approximately 1 hour to fully charged, it will be a good idea to invest in a few extra battery packs so you can have more flight time, and less waiting for the batteries to charge.

You can use the Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider indoors as well as outdoors. Top speed for this quadcopter camera drone is up to 18Km/h with a control range of 20m.

Pros and Cons

The Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider is a camera quadcopter that comes with an abundance of pros but unfortunately like any product there are also some cons.

The Bluetooth smart technology means the drone can be easily controlled using the FreeFlight3 app, and this app comes with some great features itself.

There is an automatic pilot mode which makes it possible to auto correct the angle and position of the drone, and the quadcopter camera drone also comes with stunt flight moves pre-programmed into the system for your ease of use.

The Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider is very flexible and you will be able to make radical turn like 90 and 180 degrees as well as performing stunts like 360 degree forward and backward flips.

The vertical mini camera is a great addition and lets you catch aerial photographs as you go. The camera is not the best quality around and is only able to capture VGA-resolution photos.

Like most small quadcopters and drones this size and weight it is sensitive to wind so it’s not advisable to use in very windy conditions.

A big con with this product is that the battery overheats very quickly and it needs to completely cool down before you can recharge it. Furthermore, spare propellers are not yet available for this product so it can’t be repaired if you have an accident and breaks your propellers.

The Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider is a compact mini quadcopter drone and despite some of its con’s it still is a great addition to any hobbyists collection. It’s a decent drone for both beginner as well as more experienced users.

As long as you stay away from windy conditions, the lightweight and sturdy build gives the drone rather good stability with pretty impressive speed to go.

The added wheels can be attached indoors for fun and enjoyment, as well as serve as a protective barrier reducing the risk of crashing and breakage.

The Parrot Mini Drone Rolling Spider Camera Quadcopter is suitable for children aged 14 and over and it is a great gift for any beginner or hobbyist. I can definitely recommend this product for anybody who is looking for a fun, affordable and interesting addition to their drone collection.
