When it comes to quadricopters and helicopters, there isn’t much wiggle space between the enthusiast remote controlled quads and helicopters and toys..

Between those two “extremes” you find the Parrot AR Drone 2.0. Camera Quadcopter Drone! This is a quadricopter that you can easily control with your tablet or smartphone.

If this is something that provokes your interest, please check out the Parrot AR Quadcopter Drone 2.0 in order to determine this is something viable for you or not…

Is this your Dream Come True…

The Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Elite drone is easy to fly and it has two built in cameras attached.  You can easily control this quadcopter without worrying too much about it flipping over or running into things. And if you’re looking for a good camera quadcopter and “toy” that is capable of taking photos and videos as well, then the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 is your dream come true.

Controlled by an App

This is a plastic quadricopter that has a total of four plastic rotors. With the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Elite you also get two Styrofoam bodies.

One is an outdoor body that keeps the rotors exposed and the other an indoor body that consists of foam rings surrounding the rotors for protecting the stuff inside your home from being crushed.

You can easily slip the bodies over the drone frame and it will stay securely in place by putting a little bit of pressure.

There is no power switch with the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Elite as it the drone is activated by plugging in the battery, setting it in the slot and setting the body over it.

There is no controller with this drone simply because it relies on an iOS or Android iOS device for operation. You simply connect your portable device (phone – tablet etc) to a Wi-Fi hotspot that the drone generates and you’re done and ready to pilot your drone, as well as the attached camera.

The app used to control the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Elite Quadcopter is pretty interesting. It utilizes a two-stick control system by default where the right handle is used to thrust your drone forward, backward, left, or right.

The left stick is used to control elevation and the direction of the drone.

If you own a Nvidia Shield, you will be able to control the AR Drone with the physical analog sticks – this technique makes controlling the drone feel more responsive, but if you don’t have a Nvidia Shield, that is okay as well!

The Camera Function

The camera is a forward or downwards pointing camera and Everything your AR Drone 2.0 sees through its camera, you can record in 720px.

The mobile app takes care of all handling, recordings and storage so, any photos or videos you record will automatically be added to your tablet or smartphone. There is no option for onboard storage on the quadcopter itself, so make sure to have some extra space on your memory card as well!

The drone doesn’t have capacity for recording sound, but even if it did, you would get nothing but noice either way as the rotors of the drone would interfere anyways. The video quality though is rather decent and it will make you some pretty good video footage.

Operating the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Quadcopter The AR FreeFlight software is the main way to go and record video from this drone. It’s also the easiest way to update the firmware.

The software is also capable of geotagging and mapping out all your flights if you want to, as well as uploading your photos and videos to the Parrot’s AR Drone Academy service. It’s fully your choice, but you can if you want to share your experiences with other people over the net as well.

The Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Video Quadcopter is a fully viable choice and a decent quadcopter that will bring lots of exciting hours while airborne.  And if you’re looking for something decent between the optimal enthusiast device and a mere toy, this could be it for you!

It is pretty rugged and can stand for some crashes. Furthermore it comes with everything you need to fly, and it’s ready to go right out of the box.

The Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Camera Quadcopter isn’t just another remote controlled helicopter. Neither is it your upper scale quadcopter camera mount for professionals. Still this device is way much more than a regular toy helicopter.
